2017 AWARDS CHAPEL

Two adults and numerous students from both the High School and the Elementary/Middle School received awards at the annual Awards Chapel, Wednesday, June 7, 2017.

The awards recognized academic, athletic and citizenship strengths and were given by the Federation of Teachers, the Teamsters, the Urban League, the Union League, the Girard College Alumni Association, the Board of Directors of City Trusts, the Girard College Foundation, individual donors and family foundations. Matt Herrera (L), Director of Technology, and Mike Wood (R), Housekeeping, shared the Cermele Distinguished Service Award.The DSA is awarded annually to a member of the staff who exhibits dedication and professionalism.
The GCAA awards included the Hollenshead student-athlete award given to senior Sierra W. (Joe Garbaraino ’71, presenter)Departmental awards included the Art award presented to middle-school student Daziah L. (Dean Cannie Shafer, presenter)
The Girard College Foundation provides three awards, including the Class of 1968 Community Enrichment award to junior Tiffany B. (Joe Samuel ’84, Presenter)
The Federation of Teacher awards include the John Lestino award for a middle-schooler with a positive attitude, Brandon O. (Kevin Giorno, faculty, presenter)
  
The Sundry Trust awards from the Board of Directors of City Trusts included the John E. Rodgers prize for life skills, presented to Anjalee P. (Henry Fairfax, VP, presenter)
President Clarence Armbrister gives an award to all students inducted into the National Honor Society in January, including senior Stanton H.
