Comcast Leader Lillie Speaks to Girard Chapel Audience
Charisse Lillie – attorney, former EVP of the Comcast Foundation and VP of Community Investment – was the Chapel speaker for March.
Held the first Wednesday of each month, the Girard College Chapel is a chance for the entire community to come together. March is "Women's History Month," and so the speaker was well-known Comcast executive and mentor to many professional women, Charisse Lillie.
Lillie was introduced by third-grader Makalah B. who shared pertinent facts about Lillie's background.
When she addressed the group, Lillie reminded the students that they must never stop dreaming big dreams, and must never allow anyone to discourage them.
"When I was in elementary school, and I told my teachers that I wanted to become a lawyer, they laughed at me," Lillie said."But I never gave up."
Focusing on two of the Girard College core values of integrity and compassion, Lillie said, "Move forward with integrity and dignity and you will reap great rewards," and "Make sure that you practice compassion, especially on the Internet where others may be unkind."
Comcast has supported Girard College over the years, and Lillie said that she had enjoyed watching the students learn and grow.
"Education is an important investment in your future," she said. "I can't wait to see where you all go from here!"
