DIVERSITY CLUB AWARDED $6,000 TRAINING GRANT
The Upper School’s Diversity Club has been award a $6,000 Peer Training grant in recognition for great work done so far this school year. The ADL (Anti-Defamation League) specifically values the DC’s commitment to “No Place for Hate,” an anti-bias and anti-bullying program the ADL promotes in schools. The Diversity Club recently performed a skit for the Upper School students and facilitated discussions after a video presentation.

STEPHEN GIRARD FEATURED IN
PHILADELPHIA HISTORY FILM
Stephen Girard is featured in next episode of “Philadelphia: The Great Experiment” produced by Philadelphia film maker Sam Katz and aired on 6ABC on Wednesday, April 4 at

FLL TEAM COMPETES AT UPENN
In December, you read about an FLL qualifying event held on Girard's campus.
On January 28, the first Girard College FLL robotics team competed at a regional competition at the University of Pennsylvania.

MLK DAY OF SERVICE AT GIRARD LARGEST IN NATION
For the third consecutive year, Girard College was the signature site of the Greater Philadelphia Area MLK Day of Service. More than 3,000 people walked onto our beautiful North Philadelphia campus to particiate in over 100 service projects including a job fair that accommodated 500 job seekers.
Special guests and speakers included Vice President Joe Biden (read more), Mayor Michael Nutter, Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley, Senator Joe Casey and Congressmen Brady, Fattah and Schwartz.

SCHOOL PREPARES FOR GALA APRIL 13
Girard College is proud to announce that alumnus and Board of Managers chair Peter Shoemaker ’60 will be the Corinthian Award winner, honored at the 2012 Gala on April 13. Gala planning is in full swing, and fund raising efforts have tapped national organizations such as Xerox Foundation, Global Imaging Systems, US Trust, Aramark and UPS. To date, sponsorship pledges have exceeded last year’s extremely successful Gala, and alumni support is way up.
You can honor Peter and support the children of Girard College by purchasing and ad in the program book ($1000 for a full page ad;
$500 for a half page) or by making a direct contribution to the event.
SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS AVAILABLE
Girard alumni in need of financial assistance should
apply for undergraduate scholarships or grad school scholarships.
