On the passing of Ronald R. Donatucci, President of the Board of City Trusts
The Girard College community is sad to learn of the passing of our Board President, the Honorable Ronald R. Donatucci. Throughout his 31 years of service to the Board of City Trusts, first as a Director, then as Vice President and President, Mr. Donatucci always steadfastly supported Girard College, its mission, and its students.
Bernard W. Smalley, Esq., Vice President of the Board of Directors of City Trusts, said of Donatucci, “His love for the students of Girard was without parallel. He would always look for ways to enhance the College’s program, enrollment and facilities. Ron was just a good guy, and I considered him a true friend as well as a colleague.”
Dr. Heather D. Wathington, Girard College President, said, “Ron Donatucci was a strong advocate for the College and his concern was focused on what could be done to support our students. I truly appreciated his support, and he will be missed.”
Donatucci was a former Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and served as Philadelphia’s Register of Wills for nearly 40 years.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, November 9, 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 10, 8:30 – 10:45 a.m. at St. Monica’s Church in Philadelphia, with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Ron’s memory to: Michael’s Giving H.A.N.D. 1907 S. Broad St. Philadelphia, PA 19148 or michaelsgivinghand.org.
