Statement on Violence Against Asian-American and Pacific Islander Communities
Dear Girard College Community,
I write today with sadness in the wake of rising verbal assaults, hate crimes and violence against the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities. Girard College stands in solidarity with the members of these communities and condemns the racism and violence they continue to face—both the attacks that make headlines and the ones suffered in silence.
At Girard College, we teach our students to treat others with dignity and understanding and speak up for the truth against injustices. Our community exists to provide an inclusive learning environment that will prepare our students for the world into which they are entering.
We are committed to supporting our students, staff, and all members of the Girard College community, which is made up of extraordinary people across every identity. If any member of our community experiences harassment or bias, please do not hesitate to reach out to a trusted staff member to report it. We want every community member to feel that they belong.
Let us continue to confront injustice and advocate for the rights of all people to live without fear. Together we will fulfill our promise to end racism and achieve equality for all.
